Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix well.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer.
  4. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the cream mixture.
  5. Add the remaining potatoes in a second layer and pour the rest of the cream mixture on top.
  6. Top with the remaining cheese and dot with butter pieces.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is a golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
  9. Let the casserole cool for 10 minutes before serving.
