Instructions

• Add the diced braising steak and sliced onion to a large saucepan.
• Dissolve the beef stock cubes in the boiling water and pour over the beef.
• Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
• Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 1/2 hours until the beef is tender.
• In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the cold water until smooth.
• Stir the cornstarch mixture into the stew.
• Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens.
• Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
• Meanwhile, prepare the mashed potatoes and steam the broccoli until tender.
• Serve the braising steak and rich gravy over mashed potatoes with broccoli on the side.
