Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat and sauté the shrimp until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining butter. Once melted, stir in the flour to create a roux. Cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture thickens and is smooth.
- Lower the heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and combined.
- Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Combine the cooked macaroni and shrimp with the cheese sauce, stirring well to coat.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle with extra cheese if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
- Garnish with chopped chives before serving.
