Air Fryer Meatballs Subs will be one of the easiest dinners you ever make. There is nothing as better or as delicious, however! So good, and so easy!
And if you are looking for an easy appetizer recipe this holiday season, look no further. Air Fryer Meatball Subs will soon be one of your go-to recipes, this recipe only requires a few ingredients, and within about 10 minutes, you will have dinner or appetizer on the table.
I always make this recipe for any get-together, party, event, and holiday at my house. The recipe is easy and fast enough to feed a hungry guest list or a whole bunch of sweaty hockey players!
This is a great recipe that you can make ahead. I usually freeze a batch on the weekend and then use them for mid-week meals. One meal served with pasta, a traditional pasta and meatball dinner, and the next day as meatball subs.
Air Fryer Meatballs Subs
If you are pressed for time, you can also grab a bag of frozen meatballs. There are many good-quality meatballs in the freezer section of your local grocery store. They come in various meat products, from turkey, ground beef, meatless option. They even have a beef and bacon version.
If you have never cooked frozen meatballs in the air fryer, one of the biggest questions I get asked is to break up during the cooking process. I answer that question with no. They withstand the air frying process quite well.
How To Reheat A Meatball Sub
My kids love getting a Meatball Sub from Subway and then reheating it in the Air Fryer when they are ready to eat it!
Here are the simple directions.
Set the air fryer to 320 degrees F, air fryer setting, and then place your refrigerated or cold sub into the basket. Air fry for 3-5 minutes, or until the sub is hot.
For extra flavor, you can add some shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Some Great Toppings For Air Fryer Meatballs Subs
My mother would make these with a simple gravy (sauce-for non-Italians) and top it with some shredded mozzarella cheese.
But you really can any toppings that you want. Some of my favorites are:
- Onions
- Peppers
- Mushrooms
What Is The Best Bread For Air Fryer Meatballs Subs
I usually use a sub roll, hoagie roll, or Brioche Roll, you can even use a hot dog bun. Anything works here.
For smaller bread, cut your meatballs up so they fit inside. I also prefer thicker bread. Since the meatballs are heavier, white sandwich bread does not work in this recipe.
