Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and 1 cup sugar. Add 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mixing well.
  3. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until just combined to form the brownie batter.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Use a knife to swirl them together.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  9. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Chef’s Tips

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, add a teaspoon of instant coffee to the brownie batter.
  • Chill the dessert for a few hours before slicing for cleaner cuts and enhanced flavors.
  • Try adding a touch of sea salt on top just before baking for a delightful contrast.
