Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
- Press the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish to form an even layer.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté mushrooms until browned. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, add beef broth and flour. Whisk until thickened and smooth.
- Pour the sauce over the beef layer in the baking dish.
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the beef and sauce. Sprinkle with cheese if using.
- Bake for 45 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
