Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat milk and water until warm to the touch (not hot). Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle yeast over the warm liquid and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Mix in melted butter, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes, until doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
