Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add the melted butter, warm milk, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into eight equal pieces. Shape each piece into a bun and place them on a parchment-lined tray.
- Whisk together the remaining egg and 1 tbsp milk for the egg wash. Brush each bun with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Place the buns in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching, and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving.
Chef’s Tips
- Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
- Let the shaped buns rise for an additional 15 minutes before baking for extra fluffiness.
- If your air fryer is small, bake in batches to prevent overcrowding.
