Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apple Filling
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and add diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Cook for 5-7 minutes until apples are soft and caramelized.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract and cornstarch slurry, then cook for 1-2 more minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Step 2: Prepare the Puff Pastry
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into rectangles or squares.
  3. Lightly score a border around each piece (do not cut through).
  4. Mix the egg and water to create an egg wash and brush it along the edges.
  5. Sprinkle a little sugar on the edges for extra crispness.
Step 3: Assemble & Bake
  1. Spoon the caramel apple filling into the center of each pastry, staying within the border.
  2. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.
Step 4: Drizzle & Serve
  1. Once baked, drizzle warm caramel sauce over the pastries.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
