Classic Cornbread Dressing

Instructions

Step 1: Sauté Vegetables
  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and celery, and sauté until tender and fragrant.
Step 2: Mix the Base
  1. In a large bowl, combine the toasted bread and cornbread crumbs.
  2. Add the sautéed onions, celery, and their cooking liquid.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, sage, and poultry seasoning. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Add Broth & Eggs
  1. Using a bulb baster, add just enough turkey giblet broth to create a very moist mixture.
  2. Stir in the beaten eggs until well incorporated.
Step 4: Bake
  1. Scrape the dressing mixture into a large greased baking dish.
  2. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 30–40 minutes, or until the top is nicely browned.
