Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
- Stir in taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Simmer until thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then stir in shredded cheese.
Step 2: Assemble the Chimichangas
- Place 2–3 heaping tablespoons of the beef mixture in the center of each tortilla.
- Fold the sides in, then roll up tightly like a burrito, seam side down.
- Brush each chimichanga with melted butter or olive oil to help them crisp up in the air fryer.
Step 3: Air Fry
- Preheat air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
- Place chimichangas in the air fryer basket seam side down. Do not overcrowd.
- Air fry for 10–12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
Step 4: Serve
- Top with sour cream, diced tomatoes, cilantro, or your favorite toppings. Serve hot!
