Step 1: Prep the Onions
- Peel onions and carefully cut into a “bloom” by slicing downward multiple times, without cutting all the way through. Gently spread petals.
- Soak onions in buttermilk for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Coat and Air Fry
- Mix flour with spices in a shallow bowl. Dredge soaked onions in flour mixture, pressing between petals for full coating.
- Place in air fryer basket, spray generously with oil.
- Air fry at 180°C (356°F) for 10–12 minutes, until golden and crispy.
