Step 1: Prepare the Batter
- In a bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, water, egg, and melted butter.
- Mix until a thick batter forms.
Step 2: Fry the Cornbread
- Heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Spoon small portions of the batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
- Fry for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
Step 3: Serve & Enjoy
- Serve warm with butter or honey.
- Enjoy as a side with soups, stews, or fried chicken.
