Step 1: Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
- Boil the potatoes in salted water for 10–12 minutes until tender.
- Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Meat Filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground lamb (or beef) until browned.
- Add onion and garlic, cooking for 2–3 minutes until soft.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and beef broth.
- Simmer for 5 minutes, then mix in frozen vegetables and cook for another 2 minutes.
Step 3: Assemble the Shepherd’s Pie
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Spoon the meat mixture into an air fryer-safe baking dish (about 6–7 inches).
- Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese (if using).
Step 4: Air Fry the Shepherd’s Pie
- Place the dish in the air fryer and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your crispy-topped Shepherd’s Pie!
